“Ek Lagao teen hafte me paanch le jawo” (get your
investment quintupled in just 3 weeks) that would have been YRF’s USP if
it was a betting house or investment firm. However YRF is neither a
betting house nor does it do business in investment domain. But YRF is
better than both, it’s a Bollywood production house and one of it’s
biggest gambled paid off more than they could have dreamt of in their
wildest dreams.
They gambled Rs. 100 crore in making Dhoom 3 which returned them Rs.
500 crore within just 3 weeks of opening. And in doing so Dhoom 3 has
created a new world record by becoming first ever Bollywood (and Indian)
film to collect over Rs. 500 crore earnings.
As per official statement by YRF the third franchise of Dhoom series
has collected Rs. 501.35 crore ($83.56 million) worldwide since its
release on Dec 20 last year. Out of Rs. 500 crore, 351.29 crore, came
from domestic market and rest Rs 150.06 crore ($25.01 million) from
overseas market.
Vijay Krishna Acharya directed Dhoom 3 is in cinemas across the globe
including running in Germany, Peru, Romania, Japan, Russia, Turkey,
Pakistan, Nepal and other countries.
Aamir Khan grabbed all the limelight at the expense of Katrina Kaif, Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra.
